Nothin’ but Net!
A definite high point for Turning Point’s residents each week are Basketball workshops. Led by a seasoned local basketball coach and staff member, residents and other staff members alike relearn and play the game of basketball twice a week, alternating with other sport & fitness programs that take place at the center.
Accompanying playing time, residents also participate in drills that help them to become even more successful at the game.
“The physical fitness program at Turning Point is geared toward helping residents with their recovery by engaging their minds and bodies in physical activities that help prevent muscle atrophy and disuse.” - Oliver Wilson, Program Manager & In-house Fitness Guru
Competition is “stiff” and wins garner the respect and bragging rights as is typical amongst athletes. In addition to the increased levels of confidence, residents also gain a myriad of health benefits by playing this high-intensity sport. But if that isn’t enough, by playing the game residents also learn life skills such as discipline, the importance of working-hard, communication, leadership and teamwork.
