Choral Singing Sessions are Underway!
Led by a staff member who is passionate about music and currently serves as Worship Leader at church, residents meet twice a week for 1.5 hours each session to learn new songs, sing old ones and receive a bit of vocal coaching as well.
All songs being taught in the workshop are carefully selected inspirational and motivational songs to assist in uplifting and maintaining a positive environment.
Each month, the residents must be ready to perform two new songs chosen from the selection of songs learnt. Performances take place at large staff meetings or other special events happening internally. These performances serve as mini recitals where residents have the opportunity to showcase how much of their training has been absorbed.
Hearing the voices of these gents in the halls, singing heartily is a treat for all staff. However, singing not only brings cheer to those who hear it. Music has long been thought to be therapeutic, helping people cope with the stress of life. Singing in a group is even more beneficial as it can also help to develop a sense of belonging and connection.
