Take a Look, It’s in a Book!
Turning Point Foundation recently received a wealth of donated books from the Philipsburg Jubilee Library!
The thoughtful donation included books of various genres from academic texts to literature, popular fiction and more.
Dr. Tasheena Thomas-Maccow, Director of the Turning Point Foundation stated “Reading is an important activity that is strongly encouraged here at Turning Point. This donation will not only add to our current library but will also show our residents that the community supports their educational growth.”
Upon receipt of the books, a group of staff and residents paired up to quickly make a bookshelf to house and display the donated books (as shown in the picture).
The Turning Point Book Club, led by the wonderful RM Barnett, is intended to encourage, and improve the reading levels of our residents, as well as increase the amount of reading they are doing. “We are so grateful to the Philipsburg Jubilee Library for this generous gift! Our residents have been really engaged and excited to share their perspectives during the monthly book reviews. So this donation means a lot to our Book Club!” stated RM Barnett.
Support from our community partners allow us to continue providing beneficial activities and programs for our residents, as they work toward growth and healing in their lives.
Donations like these, truly make a difference. Thank you!
