Wood-working: Newest Completed Projects
The first wood-working assignment for our newest client was to design and build a shoe rack. Opting to use a handsaw, the resident took his time creating a very neat and sturdy product. “As a wood-working novice, our newest resident shows real natural talent and we look forward to his continued progress” said our instructor.
Comparatively, one of our most recent graduates was tasked with creating a patio planter box with an additional storage shelf. “This recent graduate is very capable. Based on our observances, we can say that if he continues to hone his talent, he will continue to do exceptionally well” said the instructor.
Wood-working is a popular hobby and is said to reduce anxiety and stress, improve mental sharpness, boost your mood, help build muscle, improve math skills, increase fine motor control, as well as enhance creative development and improve communication and language abilities (as you explain your work). Naturally, it is an excellent activity for rehabilitation. Residents really enjoy immersing themselves in a project, creating items that are useful and that can last for generations.
Awesome job guys. Can’t wait to see what you create next!
Keep an eye out for more innovative handiworks crafted by our very own residents!
